Kit KingOur Special Edition interview is with artist Kit King, whose realism artwork is unbelieveable. Kit King is an artist from Ontario, Canada who started out working in an tattoo shop and now does some amazing art for commission work. We caught up with Kit in between canvases.

You have always been interested in art and for the most part have been self taught; how did you learn the skills you use in your drawings?

Yes I’ve been an art nerd as long as I can remember. Any skills I’ve acquired has been through good old fashioned practice.

Abstract Artist Joy Kelley-Giles

Abstract Artist Joy Kelley-Giles

Abstract Artist Joy Kelley-GilesIn this Special Edition we caught up with Orlando abstract artist Joy Kelley-Giles. We first saw Joy’s work when we interviewed Christopher Giles a song writer, tattoo collector and all around great guy currently living in the Orlando, Florida area. We were amazed with Joy’s artwork, so we knew we had to interview her for an article. Sure abstract artwork is not for everyone but for us all art is great to look at.

We caught up with Joy after one of Chris’ performances in Florida.

How long have you been creating abstract artwork?

I’ve been painting for about 4 years now, prior to that I never gave much focus or time to exploring my creative side. I created my first abstract on canvas in 2010; I was going thru some major changes in my life and needed an outlet. One night I decided to raid my daughters craft box and found a blank canvas that had been sitting in the corner of my closet for years. Once I started I didn’t want to stop, I painted for hours and it was the most gratifying feeling I had experienced in a long time. I never intended to do anything with the piece, but after I showed my best friend (who is now my husband), he gave the most positive and encouraging reaction which was a pivotal moment for me. Chris encouraged me to enter my first piece into the employee National Arts Program Exhibit, which I did, and won first place. Everyone needs a bit of encouragement from time to time, a reminder that we all have the ability to explore and achieve; my husband has been that person for me.
